Storytelling for schools
"Stories and storytelling" gives
children the chance to enjoy stories and storytelling specifically
designed to support the National Curriculum at Entry Level
and KS1 and KS2.
As an author of children's books, professional storyteller
and mother of two, I offer a tailored programme for primary
school children. My sessions are designed to appeal to different
learning styles whilst also enriching the curriculum. A typical
day's programme starts with Assembly at which I talk generally
about stories, storytelling and writing stories. I will also
read from my book "Tales
from My Treasure Chest".
This is followed by visits to up to six year groups within
your school. With the older year groups I run a storytelling
workshop supported by props and specifically adapted to support
the particular curriculum aims being taught within those year
groups at that time. Sessions work best when held in the classroom.
For the younger children, my session includes telling stories
whilst also encouraging their participation again using props
and linked to your current curriculum objectives. At the end
of the day I am happy to meet children and their parents on
an individual basis to answer any questions and sign copies
of my book.
My daily fee is £150 plus travelling expenses. I am based
in Hertfordshire and am happy to visit schools in London and
surrounding areas.
